The Golden Isles Film Society (GIFS) is a vibrant creative and community hub dedicated to supporting independent cinema, while fostering meaningful connections between filmmakers and audiences. As the driving force behind the Golden Isles Film Festival (GIFF) and Coastal Film Academy, GIFS provides year-round opportunities for filmmakers and enthusiasts to engage with original storytelling through curated screenings, filmmaker and industry discussions, and exclusive society member events.
We play a vital role in supporting the Golden Isles Film Festival (GIFF), a grassroots 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, to strengthen the region’s film industry. Through community engagement, educational initiatives, and economic development efforts, we aim to position Coastal Georgia as a thriving hub for filmmakers. In collaboration with partners like the Coastal Entertainment Alliance and the Savannah Regional Film Commission, GIFS is committed to elevating independent cinema while contributing to the area’s cultural and economic growth.
Our extended efforts focus on educating both filmmakers and audiences about the state's unique offerings, while also inviting global creators to explore Georgia as an appealing location for their next film projects— especially in our Coastal region. Together, we strive to create an environment that nurtures creativity and brings diverse cinematic visions to life.

Community Engagement
Our Mini-Film Series is an annual event that takes place at the Historic Ritz Theatre in Downtown Brunswick, Georgia, as an additional platform for indie filmmakers to showcase their films and connect with our community outside of the film festival.
Each year we screen 4-5 films and allow the filmmakers to sit on a Q&A panel to further discuss their vision and inspiration of films.
We host exclusive events in the Golden Isles for our members that want more out of the local film community. When becoming a member, you get first-hand access to all of our news and updates for film society and festival events and screenings.
